Issue Ad on Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill

On September 30, 2011, SAFETEA-LU and the related expenditure authority are set to expire. Repeated short-term extensions of the federal highway and transit programs has not and will not address the most immediate priority facing our nation – creating jobs for the 25 million Americans who are unemployed, underemployed, or have simply given up looking for work. The Chamber and the Americans for Transportation Mobility (ATM) Coalition urge Congress to approve a meaningful long-term surface transportation reauthorization bill that both reforms policy and programs and maintains investment in highways, public transportation, and safety.
