Shipping Jobs Overseas
On July 1, the European Union-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) entered into force — knocking down Korean tariffs and giving European businesses new access to the Korean market. On August 15, the Canada-Colombia FTA will enter into force, giving Canadian businesses a leg up in Colombia.
America’s time out on trade is creating jobs—in other countries. Faced with steep tariffs and other trade barriers that our own pending trade agreements would eliminate, American workers are left to compete with one hand tied behind their backs. A U.S. Chamber study found that more than 380,000 American jobs could be lost if we delay.
