Nineteen million American jobs depend on intellectual property. But online criminals operating rogue websites are profiting as they put those jobs at risk. The sale and distribution of counterfeit goods and pirated content undermine their ability to grow and can pose a serious health risk to consumers. America needs the necessary tools to stop these criminals and cut off rogue sites. A broad-based coalition of businesses small and large—from pharmaceuticals and automotive to software and apparel—as well as organized labor groups, state attorneys general, governors, and other elected officials have come out to support rogue sites legislation. It’s time for Congress to enact legislation that will safeguard consumers, save jobs and strengthen the Internet marketplace.
