In the framework of the European Commission's legislative proposals to reform and strengthen the fundamental right to data protection, as well as President Obama’s Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights, discussions around data protection have intensified on both sides of the Atlantic. Nonetheless, the debate remains focused on the content of these legislative proposals, and their potential impact on European and American businesses are considered independently. In light of these reforms, we feel that that the transatlantic perspective has yet to be fully explored. This breakfast meeting will gather key EU and U.S. stakeholders with the objective of proposing solutions and explore areas of convergence and address divergences between the European and the American approaches to data protection.
