Thank you for joining us May 29, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a hiring fair for veteran job seekers, active duty military members, Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta, 3300 Peachtree Rd NE  Atlanta, GA 30305. This event was a one-of-a-kind FREE hiring fair for both employers and job seekers.

This Hero2Hired (H2H), GE, and Verizon-sponsored event was conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, the Grand Hyatt Atlanta, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and its Military Affairs Coordinating Committee, the Department of Labor's Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), Georgia Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR),  the Georgia Department of Labor, The American Legion, NBC News, and other local partners.

Atlanta Employment Workshop - GE Veterans Network Transition Assistance Program

The employment workshop was held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with a classroom session followed by GE's own veteran employees conducting one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered participants.  Additional Mentoring sessions ran for the balance of the Fair for walk-ins if time permits.  The individual sessions focused on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veterans and service member participants.

Online Tools for Veterans and Spouses

Hiring Our Heroes has launched an online partnership with Military.com to complement our face to face hiring fair efforts across the country.  Veterans can get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience, and training into related civilian careers; and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers.
