Chicago Employment Workshop - Monday, September 24th, 2012  - Veterans Transition Assistance Workshop

The employment workshop was held the Monday prior to the Career Fair (Thursday, September 27th ) and will consist of 3 separate classroom sessions held at 1 PM and 3 PM followed by GE's own veteran employees conducting one-on-one mentoring sessions, and at 6 PM in the evening session, mentoring sessions will be provided by Loyola University employees. Mentoring sessions focused on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veteran and service member participants planning to attend the career fair later in the week.  In addition, Eric Taveras, Army veteran and recent graduate of Loyola, joined both the afternoon and evening workshops to provide an inside view of what it's like to return to school and complete your college degree after military service.  Also joining for both sessions was a representative from the Illinois Veteran's Administration who will cover the specifics of the Post 9/11 GI Bill program and discuss the educational services available to veterans for entering college and finishing their degree.

Interested candidates completed the FREE electronic pre-registration in order to participate, and will need to choose a session- 1 PM, 3 PM or 6 PM.  The event was held at the Pritzker Military Library at 104 South Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago.  A maximum of 50 participants for each session were accepted.
