Thank you for joining us for the Hiring Our Heroes/Heroes to Hometowns' Transition & Benefits Job Fair held as a part of The American Legion's 94th Annual National Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The Hiring Our Heroes/Heroes to Hometowns' Transition & Benefits Job Fair was held in direct partnership between the the American Legion and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The hiring fair is free for both job seekers and employers. The event began at 11:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM on August 25.

Hiring our Heroes helped with the event as part of its multi-year initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment in the private sector.

Indianapolis Employment Workshop - GE Veterans Network Transition Assistance Program

The employment workshop was held the day prior to the American Legion HoH Transition and Benefits Career Fair and will consist of 2 separate classroom sessions held at 10 AM and 1 PM followed by GE's own veteran employees conducting one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered participants.  Mentoring sessions focused on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veteran and service member participants planning to attend the career fair the following day.

Interested candidates completed the FREE electronic pre-registration in order to participate, and will need to choose a session- 10 AM or 1 PM.  The event was held at the Indianapolis Marriott in the Indiana Ballroom on the first floor, across the street from the Convention Center where the career fair will be held.  A maximum of 50 participants were accepted for each session.


Online Tools for Veterans and Spouses

Hiring Our Heroes has launched an online partnership with Military.com to complement our face to face hiring fair efforts across the country.  Veterans can get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience, and training into related civilian careers; and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers.
