Thank you for joining us May 15, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, for a job fair for veteran job seekers, active duty military members, Guard and Reserve members, and military and veteran spouses, in the  Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront 225 East Coastline Drive, Jacksonville, FL. This event was a one-of-a-kind FREE hiring fair for both employers and job seekers.

This  Hero2Hired (H2H), GE, and Prudential-sponsored event was conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Labor's Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the Florida Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the Student Veterans of America, WorkSource Florida, Florida Department Economic Opportunity, Workforce Florida, NBC News, and other local partners.

Jacksonville Employment Workshop - GE Veterans Network Transition Assistance Program

The employment workshop was held from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with a classroom session followed by GE's own veteran employees conducting one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered participants.  Additional Mentoring sessions will run for the balance of the Fair for walk-ins if time permits.  The individual sessions focused on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veterans and service member participants.

Hiring Our Heroes has launched an online partnership with Military.com to complement our face to face hiring fair efforts across the country.  Veterans can get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience, and training into related civilian careers; and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers.
