The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes National Capital Region (NCR) Military Family Appreciation EXPO, scheduled for November 2, 2012, at the Bolling Club on JB Anacostia-Bolling in Washington DC was committed to making this one-of–a-kind FREE hiring fair a win-win for employers and veteran/military spouse job seekers.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes event was co-sponsored locally by Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB) Military Family Support Center, the Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR), the U. S. Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the American Legion and United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard.

JB Anacostia-Bolling Resume Workshop - GE Veterans Network Transition Assistance Program

On November 2, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at the Bolling Club an employment workshop sponsored by General Electric's Transition Assistance Program for Veterans will be held.

The employment workshop will be from  9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. followed by GE's own veteran employees who will conduct one-on-one mentoring sessions with all participants.  Mentoring sessions for walk-ins will also be held through the duration of the hiring fair until 2:00 p.m..  They will focus on resume building; resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veteran and service member participants.

Interested candidates can click here to complete the FREE electronic pre-registration prior to 5:00 pm on October 30th, 2012 in order to participate.  A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted.

Hiring Our Heroes has launched an online partnership with Military.com to complement our face to face hiring fair efforts across the country.  Veterans can get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience, and training into related civilian careers; and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers.
