Thank you for joining us June 1, 2012 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, for a job fair for veteran job seekers, active duty military members, Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses, at the Friday Conference Center at UNC Chapel Hill, 100 Friday Center Drive, Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

This Hero2Hired (H2H) and GE-sponsored Hiring Fair, hiring event  was conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, North Carolina State Chamber, North Carolina Employment Security Commission, North Carolina Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve,  the Department of Labor s Veterans  Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), NBC News, and other local partners.  This event was a one-of-a-kind FREE hiring fair for both employers and job seekers.

Raleigh Employment Workshop - GE Veterans Network Transition Assistance Program

The employment workshop was held at 8:00 a.m., starting with a classroom session followed by GE's own veteran employees conducting one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered participants.  Additional Mentoring sessions ran for the balance of the Fair for walk-ins if time permits.  The individual sessions focused on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veterans and service member participants.

Hiring Our Heroes has launched an online partnership with Military.com to complement our face to face hiring fair efforts across the country.  Veterans can get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience, and training into related civilian careers; and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers.
