The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes hiring fair sponsored by Hero2Hired (H2H), scheduled for August 21, 2012, at the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center was committed to making this one-of–a-kind FREE hiring fair a win-win for employers and veteran/military spouse job seekers.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Hiring Our Heroes Hiring Fair was sponsored by the H2H and co-sponsored locally by the North Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce, the Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve (ESGR), the Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, Arizona Department of Economic Security, Maricopa Workforce, Employer Partnership of the Armed Forces, National Guard Support Center, the American Legion, and the United States Army Reserve.

North Scottsdale Employment Workshop - GE Veterans Network Transition Assistance Program

The employment workshop consisted of a classroom session beginning at 9 AM followed by GE's own veteran and veteran supporter employees conducting one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered participants.  Mentoring sessions focused on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veteran and service member participants.

Interested candidates completed the FREE electronic pre-registration in order to participate.  A maximum of 50 participants were accepted for the full workshop.  Once the pre-registered candidates had their coaching sessions, the opportunity will be available for “walk ins” to have a coaching session through the end of the Fair.

Online Tools for Veterans and Spouses

Hiring Our Heroes has launched an online partnership with Military.com to complement our face to face hiring fair efforts across the country.  Veterans can get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience, and training into related civilian careers; and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers.
