TODAY Career Workshop

Join us March 23, 2012 for a preparatory workshop for veteran job seekers, active duty military members, Guard and Reserve members and eligible spouses at the Mezzanine of 30 Rockefeller Plaza (access at 49 W 49TH STREET). This event will be a one-of-a-kind FREE workshop for job seekers and conducted in advance of the March 28 Hiring Our Heroes Today Job Fair at the U.S.S. Intrepid.

This preparatory workshop is being conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in partnership with The Today Show, NBC News, and Monster/Military.com.

Monster.com and Military.com invite our nation’s veterans to attend a Power Seeker Workshop for Veterans to get the tools they need to compete in the civilian workforce.

This engaging 3-hour workshop covers the information needed by transitioning military personnel in order to enter the civilian job market and provides direction to participants on how to:

• Translate their military skills and ranks into language easily recognized and appreciated by civilian employers.
• Build and maintain a lasting network of professional connections.
• Jump start the job search process with Monster including the basics of creating a Monster profile and using career tools.
• Learn resume tips and tricks including key elements, keywords and formatting.
• Prepare for a successful job interview, how to network, and how to create your digital footprint.

There will be two sessions, one in the morning from 8:30 to 11:30 and one in the afternoon from 12:30 to 3:30. Both sessions will accomodate 100 job seekers.
