Workforce Academy Model
Using a tested three-part model, the Workforce Academy model brought together employers, workforce development agencies, and service providers to create change and improvement in local workforce development systems. Convened by local chambers, the sessions were geared to helping communities, regions, and states establish an effective market-driven workforce development system. This was a multiyear effort of CWP that has expanded around the country.
Goals/Objectives:
- Help employers hire, train, retain, and advance qualified workers
- Bridge the gap between employers and workforce development providers and services
- Facilitate change and improvement in local workforce development systems, policies, and practices
Strategy:
- Research: including employer surveys, regional trends analysis, and benchmark reports
- Learning: a series of highly structured one-day Workforce Academies targeted to employers
- Action: business-led roundtables on topics of local importance that generate specific recommendations for individual communities
Funder: U.S. Department of Labor
