Chamber Hosts China Business Grassroots Forum for Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia Businesses

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the American Chamber of Commerce-China, American Chamber of Commerce-Shanghai, American Chamber of Commerce-South China; and in partnership with the Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce, DC Chamber of Commerce, Fairfax Chamber of Commerce, Maryland-China Business Council, Maryland Department of  Business and Economic Development, and with the support of national sponsor, Las Vegas Sands Corporation, hosted China Business 2008: Expanding Opportunities in China for American Business in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

The event  took place Wednesday, May 14, 2008, 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

China Business 2008 highlighted export and investment opportunities in China for U.S. companies entering the China market.  The forum will include Chinese Ambassador to the United States Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong and featured Ambassador Alan Holmer, Special Envoy to China and the Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED), Michelle O'Neill, Deputy Under Secretary for International Trade, International Trade Administration, U.S. Department of Commerce, Members of Congress, visiting China business experts from the American Chambers of Commerce in China, senior representatives from the U.S. Commercial Service, and other key China stakeholders.

Beyond providing an overview of the business climate in China, the forum gave hands-on information on such topics as finding suitable partners, licensing, sales and marketing, distribution and trading, customs clearance, and regulatory issues. Please view the program agenda for more information.
