Recent Events:

May 25, 2011:  The Chamber's Asia Task Force met with Joseph Donovan, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, to discuss recent developments in Japan, including Japan's continued recovery efforts following the March 11 earthquake, tsunami and related crises, and their effects on the business environment.

May 19, 2011:  The Chamber's Asia Department and members of the U.S.-APEC Business Coalition met with Mr. Chiaki Takahashi, Japanese State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Yoshikatsu Nakayama, Vice Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry, during the APEC Senior Officials Meeting in Big Sky, Montana.

April 16-17, 2011:  U.S. Chamber President and CEO Tom Donohue visited Japan to meet with senior American and Japanese business leaders and diplomats to underscore support for Japan's recovery efforts and hear firsthand reports on the country’s reconstruction efforts.

March 21, 2011: The Chamber's Asia Department and Business Civic Leadership Center held a conference call to discuss updated information on relief and recovery efforts in response to the Japan earthquake and tsunami.
