June 26- A briefing by the East-West center to preview their new website Asia Matters for America (asiamattersforamerica.org). The website includes data on U.S. exports and employment by exports to Asia, Asian ethnicity and foreign-born population in the U.S., and Asian students in the U.S, including their impact on the U.S. economy. This portal will help business representatives, government officials, journalists, academics, and civil society groups track trends and data on the importance of Asia to the U.S. at the state and local level.

The doorknock is organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in which Assistant Secretary Chris Hill, Ambassador Marciel and Charlie Cook of the " The Cook Political Report " and other senior government officials will brief them on topics related to U.S.-Asia relations. The Chamber's Southeast Asia team advocates for open markets, trade and investment opportunities, and a level playing field for American businesses to compete and prosper in Southeast Asia. By engaging Chamber members both in Washington and in Southeast Asia, the recently expanded team encourages economic cooperation between countries in the region and strengthens coordination on issues of strategic importance to U.S. business, including intellectual property protection, free trade agreements, and regional economic integration.
Engaging Chamber Members
The Chamber actively engages member companies, both in Washington and in Southeast Asia, to reflect the heightened priority of the region in business strategies of American companies. The Southeast Asia team provides timely intelligence and analysis for our member companies on policy developments in the region that affect U.S. business. It cooperates with the American Chambers of Commerce (AmChams) in Southeast Asia, including regular dialogue with key AmCham leaders and other groups working on the region.
