The report finds that by eliminating tariffs on transatlantic trade in goods, U.S. and EU exports to one another would be 17 percent higher than otherwise by 2015 ($53 billion for the U.S., and $68 billion for the EU), and that U.S. GDP would be 0.99-1.33 percentage points higher than otherwise, while EU GDP would expand by 0.32-0.47 percent. These gains are significant and could help to generate immediate growth and jobs in the U.S. and EU, enhance the competitiveness of U.S. and European companies, and create momentum for the regulatory cooperation and investment policies needed for full transatlantic economic integration.
