The U.S. Chamber of Commerce announces a new program focus on Russia.
Tom Donohue, President and CEO, and the Chamber's Eurasia team have participated in the XII St. Petersburg Economic Forum in St, Petersburg, Russia. During this important event for U.S. -Russia economic and business relations the U.S. Chamber of Commerce signed a historical Cooperation Agreement with the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).
The Chamber and the RSPP have been working closely since late last year to develop a new level of business-to-business interaction between American and Russian companies that reflects the challenges and opportunities faced in the 21st century.
The Agreement between the Chamber and RSPP includes the creation of a new American-Russian Business Dialog to ensure that U.S. and Russian business voices are heard by policy-makers both here in Washington and in Moscow. This effort is jointly led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, The American Chamber of Commerce in Russia, and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP).
The U.S. and Russia now face serious new challenges in the global economy that affect companies' ability to remain competitive. Key areas of focus will include the investment climate between the U.S. and Russia, energy issues, the environment and natural resources, critical infrastructure, and nurturing innovation and creativity in industry.
The new American-Russian Business Dialog will be able to provide a needed interaction with policy makers as Russia seeks to implement its national priority objectives aimed at innovation, investment, infrastructure, institutions and intellectual potential.
The U.S. Chamber welcomes companies to be active participants as we work to make the U.S. - Russia relationship thrive for those that see the tremendous opportunities that exist between our two countries.
