December 4, 2012:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted a small breakfast for Alexander Alvaro of the European Parliament to discuss the proposed EU General Data Protection Regulation. Alvaro, whom was also elected a Vice President in January 2012, was able to brief attendees on the current status of the regulation, as well as on the expected next steps.  He indicated that Parliament will finalize amendments by the end of February. 

December 3, 2012:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted a lunch for EU Director General of Enterprise and EU Head of the High-Level Regulatory Cooperation Forum, Daniel Calleja. The discussion  covered regulatory cooperation in a potential U.S.-EU trade and investment agreement, as well as next meeting of the HLRCF. 

July 10-12, 2012:
The Europe Team co-hosted, alongside the Center for Global Regulatory Cooperation, a program on the European Commission’s legislative proposal on data protection in Brussels.

May 11, 2012:
The Chamber hosted a transatlantic business discussion between European Commission Vice-President Antonio Tajani, his EU business delegation, and corporate representatives. Discussion was focused on advancing transatlantic regulatory and standards convergence, as well as on industry priorities for eliminating transatlantic trade and investment barriers.

March 20, 2012:
On the occasion of a visit to Washington by Juergen Thumann, President, BUSINESSEUROPE, and the delegation of Presidents of BUSINESSEUROPE's national federations from France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Poland, and Ireland, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted a USCC-BusinessEurope joint high-level session on a transatlantic economic and trade pact. The business-government roundtable discussion centered on the prospects for an ambitious transatlantic trade initiative following the November U.S.-EU Summit's launch of a High-Level Working Group on Jobs and Growth, and ahead of the May G8 Summit in Chicago.

February 23, 2012:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted Michel Barnier, Member of the European Commission, Internal Market and Services. Commissioner Barnier discussed the EU vision of the growth potential of the European single market.  He focused on the implementation by EU of G-20 commitments to address systemic risk challenges in the financial services sector and the European capital markets.
