Clean Energy Initiative

View the MENA Department Morocco Delegation Special BulletinIn 2010, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region saw $2.5 billion in clean energy investments, according to the REN21 Renewables 2010 Global Status Report. The New York Times has described this development as a renewable energy revolution in the MENA region spurred by rising global energy demands and increasing food costs. Morocco and Jordan are investing in solar energy plants and Egypt and Tunisia are financing wind farms. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates are building renewable energy mega-projects as large as cities. Eight countries in the MENA region have made investing in clean technologies a priority in order to meet their growing energy demands.

The U.S. Chamber’s Turkey, Middle East, and North Africa Affairs Department now offers U.S. companies advanced avenues to business development opportunities, access to foreign governments and companies, and international advocacy on behalf of company interests. By joining the MENA Clean Energy Initiative, companies will receive the following benefits:

  • Participation in business delegations to key MENA countries
  • Private briefings with foreign government officials, regulators, agencies, and ministries
  • Business matchmaking and networking opportunities to find partner companies
  • Advocacy events and workshops for the clean energy sector on the MENA region
