Policy Accomplishments for 2011
Higher Education
- Successfully obtained substantial changes to the Department of Education’s gainful employment rule. These changes loosen requirements on measuring debt and repayment and give institutions more chances to improve before they could potentially lose eligibility for federal financial aid. However, the Chamber still has serious concerns with usurping congressional authority in this area, the economic impact of the rule, and the potential for negatively impacting students and will continue working to have the rule repealed.
