Chamber Supports the Nomination of Judge John G. Roberts
September 26, 2005
United States Senate
Washington, DC 20510
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce strongly supports the nomination of Judge John G. Roberts to serve as Chief Justice of the United States. Judge Roberts' impressive legal background, appropriate judicial temperament, and experience with people and issues across the political spectrum make him a particularly well-suited leader for the Court.
Judge Roberts is highly regarded and well-respected by the legal and business communities. As one of the pre-eminent members of the Supreme Court bar, he argued 39 cases before the Supreme Court and represented the nation's leading companies on important business issues.
The Chamber has been privileged to have worked closely with Judge Roberts when he was in private practice. Judge Roberts, in fact, represented the Chamber in several matters, and the Chamber prepared amicus curiae briefs supporting his clients in others. In all cases, his performance, knowledge, and professionalism were outstanding.
Judge Roberts has attracted broad bipartisan support for his fairness, keen intellect, open-mindedness, and judicious practice of law. The U.S. Chamber strongly urges your support of Judge John G. Roberts as Chief Justice of the United States.
Sincerely,
Thomas J. Donohue
President and Chief Executive Officer
U.S. Chamber of Commerce
