Letter on Immigration Reform
June 11, 2007
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE:
As national trade associations representing the full spectrum of the American economy, we are writing again to applaud the dedicated hard work of a bipartisan team of Senators and the Administration for their commitment to moving S. 1348 to completion. We fully appreciate the challenges in crafting an immigration compromise and in forging a legislative outcome in the Senate.
Moving an immigration bill out of the Senate, especially now, defines having a path forward for this Congress. It is critical that the Senate continue to work to pass comprehensive immigration reform bill.
While respecting the need for a cooling off period, we also recognize that our current immigration system is sorely broken and serves no one's interest. The status quo is unacceptable to everyone.
We again are writing to encourage you to continue work and achieve comprehensive immigration reform by passing legislation without undue delay.
