Letter Supporting the Conference Report to H.R. 1, the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009"
February 13, 2009
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce urges you to support the conference report of H.R. 1, the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009," legislation which takes a necessary step toward getting the U.S. economy back on track.
The Chamber believes that the tax relief and spending provided in the bill will help to provide stimulus and to get Americans back to work. The Chamber recognizes that H.R. 1 is not perfect; Congress and the Administration need to take further action to assist the failing economy and to unlock credit markets.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region, urges the House and Senate to approve the H.R. 1 conference report, and looks forward to working with Congress and the Administration on implementing this legislation as well as on other initiatives to bring about a robust economic recovery.
Sincerely,
R. Bruce Josten
