Letter on H.R. 6169, the "Pathway to Job Creation through a Simpler, Fairer Tax Code Act of 2012"
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region, supports H.R. 6169, the “Pathway to Job Creation through a Simpler, Fairer Tax Code Act of 2012,” which would create an expedited process for considering comprehensive tax reform.
The Chamber has long called for comprehensive tax reform and strongly supports revising the Internal Revenue Code to more efficiently foster economic growth, job creation, and investment. H.R. 6169 would provide a framework for doing just that.
The Chamber believes that fundamental tax reform should broaden the base and lower individual and corporate tax rates. Further, the Chamber strongly supports a shift to a territorial tax system that would enable American worldwide businesses to compete successfully in the global economy. Such a shift would also allow American worldwide businesses to more successfully compete against foreign firms domestically, and would promote U.S. economic growth. Repealing the alternative minimum tax (AMT) would spur capital investment in business and help spur job creation.
The Chamber urges you to support H.R. 6169, which creates an expedited legislative process for consideration of long needed tax reform.
Sincerely,
R. Bruce Josten
