Government Contracting

Policy Priorities for 2008

  • Support acquisition and procurement reform initiatives to streamline the contracting process and maximize opportunities for the private sector in the federal market by advocating a fair and efficient contracting process.
  • Prevent enactment of legislation that would harm the contracting community and create more barriers to entry.
  • Monitor the implementation of Federal Prison Industries (FPI) reform regulations while continuing to advocate for enactment of comprehensive, governmentwide FPI reform.
  • Oppose legislative efforts to restrict contracting federal functions to the private sector or revising the A-76 public-private competition process in ways that would disadvantage the private sector.
  • Continue working to defeat harmful provisions that would strengthen protectionist Buy American measures.
  • Work with Congress and the Defense Department to implement changes to the domestic specialty metals requirements and evaluate the need for further changes.
