Legal Reform and Litigation Management
Policy Priorities for 2008
- Enact a comprehensive and rational solution to the problem of mass tort medical screenings.
- Build the case for comprehensive reform of how discovery is conducted in civil litigation.
- Defend against trial lawyer-inspired attempts to expand liability for America's business community, including the criminalization of product liability law as well as attempts to limit the availability of federal preemption.
- Work to ensure that protective orders remain available in the context of civil litigation.
- Build support for changes to the securities litigation system to increase America's global competitiveness.
- Fight to preserve the availability of arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Continue educating the public about important state judicial and attorneys general races.
- Support legal reform in key problem states and jurisdictions.
