U.S. Chamber Comments on Chairman Ryan’s Budget Plan

WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue issued the following statement today on Chairman of the House Budget Committee, Congressman Paul Ryan’s budget plan:

“We commend Chairman Ryan for taking an important first step in bringing our deficit down and getting our fiscal house in order. While we have yet to fully review the details, this budget makes an initial attempt to rein in spending, deficits and debt, restructure entitlements, and fix our outdated tax code that puts our nation at a competitive disadvantage. We are pleased to see someone taking a hard look at these challenges that threaten to plague future generations. It is tackling the tough choices outlined in this proposal that will be critical to ensuring prosperity and long-term economic growth.

“Creating an environment that promotes U.S. competitiveness and economic growth must be Washington’s top priority. The U.S. Chamber welcomes the opportunity to work with Congress and the Administration to promote job creation and economic growth at every opportunity. We urge members on both sides of the aisle to give Chairman Ryan’s roadmap full consideration.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
