U.S. Chamber’s Campaign for Free Enterprise Announces Partnership with SIFE USA

College Students to Create Projects that Demonstrate Positive Impact of Free Enterprise as Part of Nationwide Competition

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Campaign for Free Enterprise is partnering with Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE USA) to invite college students across the country to create projects that show the positive effects of free enterprise as part of a nationwide competition. The announcement comes on the heels of the SIFE USA 2011 National Exposition, which concludes today.

“College campuses around the country are home to America’s next great entrepreneurs,” said Al Martinez-Fonts, senior vice president of the U.S. Chamber’s National Chamber Foundation. “Creating this partnership with SIFE makes perfect sense as it provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their vision of free enterprise and how it can help individuals and communities nationwide.”

The American Free Enterprise Project Partnership will mobilize 50 SIFE teams across the United States to work with their local chambers of commerce to complete projects that will educate entrepreneurs while improving the quality of life and standard of living in their communities. In addition to a grant funding their project, participating teams will be judged on the impact of their project with the top three teams receiving prize money and trophies ($2,500 for 1st place; $1,500 for 2nd place; and $750 for 3rd place).

“These will be projects that have the potential to impact thousands of people with the message of free enterprise,” said Stan Anderson, chairman of the Campaign for Free Enterprise. “It is entrepreneurs that will help this country create the jobs we need to boost our economy and we envision this partnership as the perfect way to bring some of the brightest ideas to the table.”

The Campaign for Free Enterprise is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's comprehensive, multiyear campaign to support free enterprise and entrepreneurship through national advertising; grassroots advocacy; citizen, community, and youth engagement; and research and ideas leadership.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
