U.S. Chamber Honors New Orleans Small Business with 2011 Community Excellence Award
Customers & Community Support ‘Naked Pizza' for its Business Success
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today at America's Small Business Summit 2011, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce honored Naked Pizza of New Orleans, Louisiana, with the Community Excellence Award, recognizing the success it has achieved in the eyes of its employees, customers, and community.
“No business received the outpouring of support from across the country that Naked Pizza did,” said Thomas J. Donohue, U.S. Chamber president and CEO. “Their relentless message of providing healthy options at affordable prices has been a boon for both the local economy and their customers.”
Naked Pizza was named one of the U.S. Chamber's seventy-five Blue Ribbon Small Business Award® winners on March 1. Each of these award winners had the opportunity to invite its community to show support for their business by voting. With nearly 1,218 votes, Naked Pizza became the third recipient of the annual Community Excellence Award.
The Award is part of the U.S. Chamber's DREAM BIG Small Business of the Year Awards program, sponsored by Sam's Club®. The Awards program is designed to recognize companies that showcase exemplary business practices in the areas of employee development, community involvement, customer service, and strategy.
“Nowadays, it’s difficult to find a business that is dedicated to a quality product and does not compromise its mission for the bottom line,” said one online voter. “Naked Pizza is a great company who makes a quality product, and they care about the community of which they are a part.”
Since 2006, Naked Pizza has sought to both rejuvenate the local economy and the community by being part of the solution to the nationwide epidemic of obesity and chronic disease. Naked Pizza provides an affordable and convenient fast food option, while also featuring all-natural ingredients and a healthy pizza crust. Since its inception, Naked Pizza has received global recognition for its innovative use of social media to spread its health-conscious message.
