U.S. Chamber Promotes Opportunity for Green Californian Companies
SAN JOSE, CA—At a business forum in San Jose, California, featuring the Honorable Eduardo Prisco Ramos, Consul General of Brazil in San Francisco, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Brazil-U.S. Business Council (BUSBC) continued its Export Green Initiative to promote opportunities for American companies in the Brazilian market. The business forum stressed the importance of green technology in driving U.S. exports to Brazil and highlighted the opportunities available for California companies in the Brazilian market.
“The business community of California is a global leader in green technology and innovation,” said BUSBC Director Kathleen McInerney. “This is a model that we would like to duplicate across America. Green technology is vitally important to the economy of California, as can be seen in cities such as San Jose.”
Ahead of preparations for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, BUSBC’s Export Green Initiative is working with the U.S. Department of Commerce to lead a trade mission to Brazil in April, 2012. The mission looks to fill the demand created by Brazil’s high economic growth and to help achieve the goal of doubling total U.S. exports set by President Obama in his State of the Union address two years ago.
Today’s event in San Jose was put on in coordination with BUSBC partners, including the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, BayBrazil, Commercial Service-Silicon Valley Export Assistance Center, and the California Center for International Trade Development (CITD).
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing more than three million businesses of every size, sector and region.
