Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce will serve as an official partner for the American Conservation Coalition Campus “Electric Election 2020 Roadtrip” to highlight the role of market-based innovation and corporate stewardship in delivering solutions to climate and environmental challenges in cities and towns across the country.

Starting next week, ACC Campus President Benji Backer will be embarking on a tour across the nation in a donated Tesla Model X to visit with business leaders, elected officials, environmental organizations and other community leaders. The tour will include stops at companies working on innovative climate solutions like those that the Chamber has highlighted in its own EnergyInnovates initiative.

“Benji and the ACC Campus team share our commitment to innovation and technology as critical to meeting our global climate challenge,” said Marty Durbin, senior vice president of policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. “We’re excited to partner with ACC to share some of the extraordinary progress being made in the business community and bring attention to climate issues during this busy election season.”

ACC Campus will release regular video podcast episodes and regional recaps through election day on a route that will begin in Wyoming, travel through the east and south, and end up in the Grand Canyon. The Chamber is assisting ACC with coordinating tour stops and will be sharing content through its channels and with its extensive regional network.

“With its diverse membership of small, medium and large businesses and global reach, the U.S. Chamber is an ideal partner for us on the Roadtrip,” said ACC Campus president and founder Benji Backer. “The Chamber and its members have been leading the charge to promote private sector climate action and we value their partnership to help make our tour a success.”

ACC Campus will plant three trees for every mile driven to ensure the roadtrip is carbon-negative, and will take extensive precautions to combat COVID-19.
