Giovanni Coratolo Bio
Giovanni Coratolo
Giovanni Coratolo is vice president of small business policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. In this capacity, he works with the U.S. Chamber's policy experts and small and midmarket members to indentify issues of importance to business. In addition, Coratolo is executive director of the small and midmarket business councils. These two councils are the U.S. Chamber's principal standing policy committees and grassroots action groups representing legislative, regulatory, and international issues of concern to small and midmarket businesses.
For 25 years before coming to the Chamber, Coratolo started, owned, and operated diverse business ventures including restaurants, a land development firm, software installation and development services, and a vending company. During that time, he aggressively advocated for business interests in front of local, state, and federal government agencies and offices.
From 1990 to 1991, Coratolo presided as the volunteer president of the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington, where he serves as a board member emeritus.
From 1990 to 1997, Coratolo served on the board of directors of the National Restaurant Association (NRA). At the NRA, he led the effort to revitalize the association's membership services and outreach by spearheading dual membership arrangements with state associations and the NRA.
Coratolo graduated in 1971 from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He attended the University of Baltimore Law School and The George Washington University School of Business.
Throughout his career, Coratolo has testified on numerous occasions on Capitol Hill to protect and promote business and entrepreneurship and has vigorously advanced the public policy interests of entrepreneurs before Congress, the administration, and regulatory agencies. Coratolo is recognized among his peers as an authority on challenges facing business ownership and survival.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions, as well as state and local chambers and industry associations.
