U.S. Chamber Promotes Bill Morley to VP of Congressional Affairs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – United States Chamber of Commerce President Thomas J. Donohue today announced the promotion of William Morley from director of Congressional and Public Affairs to Vice President for Congressional Affairs.
Morley, who came to the Chamber in Nov., 1997 from the office of Senator Arlen Specter (R-Pa), has played a leading role in the Chamber's resurgent lobbying team on Capitol Hill serving as lead trade lobbyist. He is also assists in coordinating the Chambers' highly successful "Meet and Greet" program where over 100 Congressional candidates have met this year with Washington representatives of Chamber member companies and associations.
"Morley's talent, successes and maturity warrant this significant promotion," said Donohue. "As the Chamber's lobbying team has grown fivefold, he has played an important leadership role in the Chamber's legislative activities.
"Bill has clearly demonstrated that he is the person to help carry the Chamber's legislative agenda to the next level," Donohue added.
Prior to coming to the chamber, Morley, an attorney, worked for Specter as General Counsel. He had previously served as Senior Legislative Assistant on the Senate Judiciary Committee and as Director of Specter's political action committee in the 1980's.
In addition, he served as a litigator with the Newport Beach, California law firm of Stradling, Yocca, Carlson & Rauth, handling a broad array of intellectual property and business litigation issues.
Morley is a graduate of Haverford College and UCLA Law School. He has wide international exposure and is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
