Muncie Businessman Named Chairman of U.S. Chamber

WASHINGTON, DC – The Board of Directors of the United States Chamber of Commerce has named Kelly N. Stanley as its Chairman for 2000-2001. Stanley is President and CEO of Ontario Corporation, a privately owned high-tech manufacturing and service firm with 40 years experience in successfully starting, growing, acquiring, and managing manufacturing and service businesses.

Stanley has been a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors since 1993, Midwest Regional Vice Chairman 1998-1999 and was the Chamber's Vice-Chairman 1999-2000. Stanley was appointed Chairman of both the Audit Committee and the Labor Relations Committee in 1998.

During his one-year term as Chairman, Stanley will travel the country meeting with state and local chambers and other groups urging business leaders to help the Chamber advance pro-business legislation. Several of the Chamber's top policy priorities include electing a pro-business Congress, finding quality workers; opening new markets and promoting free trade; enacting environmental and regulatory reform; and providing market-based health care and retirement security.

"I'm looking forward to being an ambassador for the Chamber and reminding people that business is truly the backbone of our economy," said Stanley. "Business is one thing that really works in this country, and we shouldn't have to apologize for it."

"Kelly's experience and enthusiasm will help us to spread the Chamber's pro-business message from Main Street to Wall Street," said Thomas J. Donohue, Chamber President and CEO. "He'll play an active role in educating and energizing the Chamber's federation members on important policy issues and ensuring that pro-business legislation sees it way through Congress."

Stanley also serves as Vice Chairman of Cardinal Health System and Chairman and Director of Ball Memorial Hospital; Director of Old National Bancorp, and Director of the Indiana State Chamber of Commerce.

Stanley graduated from Miami University and received his J.D. Degree from Indiana University School of Law. He and his wife, Donna, reside in Muncie, Indiana. They have three children, Laura Keppler, Casey Stanley and Marci Robinson.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
