U.S. Chamber Endorses AIG Environmental? Insurance Products

WASHINGTON, DC—The United States Chamber of Commerce today announced a partnership with American International Group, Inc. (AIG), to offer AIG's environmental insurance products and services to its small business member companies. Under the new agreement, AIG Environmental® becomes the exclusive provider of Chamber EnviroPakSM, a selection of environmental coverages with a fit for any type of property owner or operator, as well as commercial lenders.

"Many small business owners don't realize the risk they carry for environmental liability," said Jane Sanders, Chamber vice president for business development. "And yet, with state and federal environmental regulations becoming increasingly stringent, many small businesses face potentially devastating financial liabilities."

Designed to offset the financial impact in the event of a pollution-related accident or discovery, Chamber EnviroPakSM offers a complete environmental insurance program for any property owner or operator, with automatic three-year terms and no minimum premium. Additional benefits include around-the-clock emergency toll-free assistance in the event of an environmental accident.

"Many businesses think they have insurance coverage for environmental liability in their commercial general liability (CGL) policy, but this is not necessarily true," Sanders added. "Frequently the coverage in a CGL policy is restrictive or non-existent."

Initially, Chamber EnviroPakSM will offer two coverage options, PLL Commercial® and TankGuard. PLL Commercial® provides coverage for properties, disposal sites, operations and transportation, as well as product pollution coverage. TankGuard covers environmental liability and clean-up costs associated with underground or aboveground storage tanks.
