WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Chamber of Commerce today named Eric Wohlschlegel as Director of Media Relations. Prior to joining the Chamber, Wohlschlegel provided communications counsel on high-tech, finance, health care, and international relations issues to the public affairs firm of Chlopak, Leonard, Schechter and Associates. Before CLS, Wohlschlegel was a spokesman for the House Commerce Committee. In that position, he developed and directed media outreach on telecommunications, health care, energy, the environment, electricity restructuring, and financial services.
"With his background on Capitol Hill and communications experience, Wohlschlegel will play an instrumental role in communicating our pro-business messages to the press and the public," said Thomas Donohue, Chamber president and CEO. "He will be a key player on a number of our priority issues — tax reform, international trade, energy and environment, high tech, and health care."
Before joining the House Commerce Committee, Wohlschlegel spent three and a half years at the National Petrochemical Refiners Association as a media and external relations representative.
Wohlschlegel, a native of Portland, Ore., has an undergraduate degree in philosophy from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Wa., and a Master's degree in international politics from the University of Dublin, Trinity College.
