U.S. Chamber Promotes Jefferson to Exec Director

WASHINGTON, DC.. — The United States Chamber of Commerce today announced that it is promoting Sally Jefferson to the position of executive director, Transportation Infrastructure and Congressional and Public Affairs, from director. As executive director, Jefferson will manage the Chamber's expanded lobbying and grassroots efforts on transportation infrastructure investment and continue as the Chamber's chief lobbyist on energy and environmental issues.

"In promoting Sally Jefferson to executive director, we are recognizing her outstanding work, as well as strengthening our commitment to push for revitalizing the nation's beleaguered transportation infrastructure," said Chamber President and CEO Thomas Donohue. "This issue is a top priority for the Chamber federation as we prepare for congressional reauthorization of surface transportation and aviation infrastructure programs."

In addition to serving as the lead lobbyist on transportation, environment, and energy issues, Jefferson will continue to manage the Chamber's Transportation Infrastructure and Logistics Committee, which develops policy positions on transportation issues, as well as the Chamber's How They Voted scorecard, which annually rates the voting records of members of Congress on key business issues.

Prior to her work in Congressional Affairs, Jefferson served as the Chamber's point person on regulatory and unfunded mandates reform and as associate manager of the Chamber's Energy and Natural Resources Policy Department. Before joining the Chamber, she worked six years as legislative assistant to Rep. Larry Hopkins (R-KY).

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
