Senate Misses Opportunity To Boost Economy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – United States Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Thomas Donohue today hailed the second House passage of President Bush's economic stimulus package as a vital way to jump-start the U.S. economy, but sharply criticized the Senate for missing the opportunity to help America's struggling businesses and unemployed.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
"If there was ever a crucial time to put aside partisanship for the sake of our weakened economy, it is now," said Donohue. "Unfortunately, due to the impasse in the Senate, our nation's struggling businesses and unemployed workers are left with a lump of coal this Christmas."
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
