U.S. Chamber Launches 10-City U.S. Tour for Chinese Ambassador

WASHINGTON D.C.-The United States Chamber of Commerce launched a 10-city U.S. tour for Chinese Ambassador to the United States H.E. Li Zhaoxing to meet with U.S. businesses and help educate business leaders on trade opportunities following last year's enactment of permanent normal trade relations with China (PNTR). The "National Conversation with the Chinese Ambassador" program, planned in conjunction with the Chinese Embassy, will begin with stops January 16 in Denver, Colo., and January 18 in San Jose, Calif.

"Passage of PNTR was only the first step," said Chamber Managing Director for Asia Myron Brilliant. "Now, as we prepare for China's entry into the World Trade Organization, the Chamber plans to build on the PNTR momentum to educate the U.S. business community about the many opportunities for doing business with China."

The Chinese ambassador's Denver and San Jose visits will include meetings with local business and association leaders, government officials and policy experts, and will focus on expanding business opportunities for the U.S. information technology sector through improved U.S.-China trade.

The Denver and San Jose meetings will be co-sponsored by the Denver World Trade Center and the San Jose Chamber of Commerce. Corporate co-sponsors of the Chamber's National Conversation tour include Amway, CNA/Schinnerer, FedEx, New York Life International, and United Airlines.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
