U.S. Chamber Statement Supporting Elaine Chao Nomination
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States Chamber of Commerce released the following statement in support of President-elect George W. Bush's nomination of Elaine Chao to be Secretary of Labor.
"Elaine Chao brings a wealth of experience in government, the private sector and public policy to this challenging position. Chao shares President-elect Bush's views on the limited role of government and supports free market principles. We are confident that she will listen carefully to the views of the business community and labor, and we look forward to working with her," said Thomas J. Donohue, U.S. Chamber president and CEO.
"We believe she will represent all American workers - the 10 percent of the private workforce that is unionized and the 90 percent that isn't," he added.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
