Chinese Ambassador Stresses U.S.-China Ties
WASHINGTON D.C. – The Chinese Ambassador to the United States, Yang Jiechi, stressed the importance of U.S.–China ties during a stop in Jacksonville, Florida, on his nationwide tour sponsored by the United States Chamber of Commerce.
"It is a priority of the U.S. Chamber to help foster stronger ties between China and the United States," said Myron Brilliant, Chamber Managing Director, Asia Division. "This Ambassador Tour is a wonderful opportunity to help educate communities across the country on the importance of U.S. – China relations."
The United States Chamber of Commerce launched a 10-city U.S. tour to provide a forum for Chinese diplomats in the U.S. to interact with and educate business leaders on trade opportunities following last year's enactment of permanent normal trade relations with China. The tour started earlier this year in Denver, CO (January 16), San Jose, CA (January 18), and Phoenix, AZ (February 9).
"The Chamber's National Conversation Tour is a valuable opportunity for me to meet with business leaders in communities across the United States," Ambassador Yang said. "It is important for local businesses in Jacksonville to learn more about the benefits that can come from a broader U.S.-China relationship."
Ambassador Yang is traveling to Jacksonville to meet with local business and government leaders, as well as organizations that promote stronger ties with China. The Ambassador will also tour the Port of Jacksonville, which handles heavy international cargo traffic, and Sally Industries, a local company which provides equipment for theme and amusement parks nationwide.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
