U.S. Chamber Promotes Mag?n to Vice President
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The United States Chamber of Commerce today announced it is promoting Michael Magán to vice president and deputy chief of staff in the Chamber's Executive Office, from managing director for the Western Hemisphere in the International Division. In this new position, Magán will recommend and coordinate messages, materials and logistics for Chamber policy priorities.
"Magán has the ability and the vision to help ensure the Chamber is an effective pro-business voice in Washington, in this country and abroad," said Thomas Donohue, Chamber President and CEO. "Magán has earned this promotion because he has proven himself to be a capable and experienced manager of people, projects, policy and budgets."
As the Chamber has grown under Donohue's tenure as president, the need for an executive officer to manage and coordinate the Chamber's policy activities has increased. Magán will counsel Donohue and other senior-level staff members regarding appropriate actions to achieve the Chamber's objectives and report to Chamber Chief of Staff Suzie Clark.
As managing director for the Western Hemisphere at the Chamber, Magán implemented programs that assisted American companies in their efforts to take advantage of the rapidly expanding Latin American market. Prior to joining the Chamber, Magán was a director with the International Republican Institute (IRI), an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of democracy around the globe.
Magán's previous experience also includes legislative positions with Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham and Congresswoman Helen Delich Bentley, and he has served as an official observer for presidential elections in Azerbaijan, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, and Ukraine. He is a graduate of Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and also studied at the University of Lima in Peru.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
