U.S. Chamber Plans Broadband Technology Summit
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Chamber of Commerce will explore current and future demand for applications and services accompanying broadband deployment at a major National Chamber Foundation event on April 30 that will gather senior government officials and telecommunications executives.
"Advances in communications technologies will be one of the main forces driving our future economic growth and quality of life," said U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas Donohue. "Government and private-sector leaders must work together to ensure that the U.S. stays ahead of the curve when it comes to next-generation technologies."
The full-day conference — "Beyond Broadband: Policy and Business Strategies for Next-Generation Applications and Services" — will examine new advances in technology that will help with the U.S. economic recovery and the policy framework needed to facilitate them.
The summit will feature a luncheon keynote address by the Federal Communication Commission Chairman Michael Powell, as well as panel discussions with House and Senate leaders, and business and association executives — including SBC Chairman and CEO, Edward Whitacre, Jr. Panel topics include legislative and regulatory outlooks, future perspectives of next-generation applications and services, business case studies on production gains through technology, intellectual property issues in the digital world, and a regulatory outlook.
The National Chamber Foundation expects more than three hundred participants for the event. For more information or to register for the event the media can contact Chamber Media Relations at 202-463-5682. General public registrants can call NCF at 202-463-5500.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
