U.S. Chamber Announces New Senior Counsel
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Chamber of Commerce today announced that Paul S. Miller, U.S. Chamber Board Member and former executive vice president and general counsel of Pfizer Inc., will join the Chamber as senior counsel and help move the organization's policy and legal programs forward.
"Miller has made tremendous contributions to the Chamber as a board member and to its litigation center where he serves as chairman," said Thomas Donohue, Chamber president and CEO. "Miller's years of experience and strategic thinking will strengthen the Chamber's ability to advance its ambitious business and legal policy agenda."
Miller was named executive vice president and general counsel by Pfizer's board of directors in October 1992. He joined the firm's legal division in 1971. In addition to his board membership of the U.S. Chamber, Miller is a member of the Civil Justice Reform Group, the Lawyers for Civil Justice, the American Tort Reform Association, the American and New York State Bar Associations, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is also a member of the Board of Overseers of the Civil Justice Institute at Rand, and upon his retirement from Pfizer earlier this year, joined the law firm of Kaye Scholer LLP as special counsel.
"We're adding another strong voice on some of our biggest priorities, including class action reform and the elimination of frivolous lawsuits," said Donohue. "Miller's background, knowledge, and vision will be an enormous asset to the Chamber in the fight for those changes in our legal system."
As senior counsel, Miller will advise the Chamber's senior staff and executive committee, and will travel across the country and the world to speak about the Chamber's pro-business and public policy objectives.
Mr. Miller received his B.A. from Rutgers University in 1960, and his LLB magna cum laude from Rutgers University School of Law in 1962. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
