U.S. Chamber Endorses Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina Senate Race

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The United States Chamber of Commerce today announced its endorsement of Elizabeth Dole in North Carolina's Senate race.

"Elizabeth Dole is running for Congress on a solidly pro-business platform, including tax relief, limited government, and economic expansion," said Bill Miller, Chamber political director and vice president for public affairs.

Dole's record as a public service figure is long and distinguished. She has held Cabinet positions with President Ronald Reagan as Secretary of Transportation and President George H.W. Bush as Secretary of Labor. Her tenure as president of the American Red Cross was marked with unprecedented success for the relief organization. Dole's election to the Senate would help revitalize the economy in North Carolina by creating jobs and keeping taxes low.

"Elizabeth Dole understands that America's businesses hold the key for creating jobs and spreading economic prosperity," Miller added. "The Chamber believes she will be an effective legislator who will vigorously support businesses, small and large, on critical issues like taxes, health care, and legal reform."

The U.S. Chamber endorses congressional candidates who have demonstrated support for business and will work to advance a pro-business agenda in Congress.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation, representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
