Chamber Presents Donald Moffitt with Dennis Sheehan Award

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Chamber of Commerce today announced that Donald Moffitt, chairman of CNF, Inc. is this year's recipient of the Dennis Sheehan Award. Moffitt was presented with the award at a meeting of the Chamber's Board of Directors in Washington for his lifelong commitment and service to the American business community.

The award, named in honor of former Chamber chairman Dennis Sheehan, is given annually to the board member who best captures the late Mr. Sheehan's spirit and enthusiasm and goes beyond the call of duty in commitment and service to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

"Don Moffitt's outstanding service to the U.S. Chamber, particularly in his pioneering work on the Audit committee, makes him a worthy recipient of this award," said Chairman Larry Liebenow. "Sacrificing his own time, Don helped lead a major effort to bring the Chamber's financial processes into the 21st century and created a system that is open and transparent, as well as accurate."

Moffitt has been active on the U.S. Chamber board for a decade. Elected in 1993, he has served on six different committees, most recently as chairman of the Audit committee. He also served as a Regional Vice Chairman from 1998-2001.

The award winner receives an eagle, a symbol of character, strength and respect – qualities for which Dennis Sheehan was well known. The inaugural award was presented to the Sheehan family four years ago.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every ize, sector and region.
