WASHINGTON, D.C. – The United States Chamber of Commerce Center for Corporate Citizenship announced the nomination period for its 2004 Corporate Citizenship Awards recognizing America's leading corporate citizens is now open. 

 

"Businesses play a critical role in advancing important social goals," said Stephen Jordan, CCC executive director.  "These awards will recognize businesses and local chambers that demonstrate leadership and commitment by making a difference in their communities."

 

The Center for Corporate Citizenship will present awards in several categories, including the Citizenship in Action Award, the U.S. Chamber Community Service Award, The International American Chamber Community Service Award, the Kenan Award for Business Leadership, and corporate stewardship awards recognizing small, medium and large businesses.  

 

To be eligible, award candidates must be an accredited chamber of commerce or a registered U.S. company and member of the U.S. Chamber through a local or international affiliation. 

 

Companies and chambers may nominate themselves, or they may be nominated by nonprofits or third parties.  Nominations must be postmarked by Oct. 1.

 

The Chamber will host a recognition dinner for nominees and recipients on Dec. 2 in Washington, D.C. 

 

The Center for Corporate Citizenship is a nonprofit affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce that serves as a resource and voice for businesses and their social, philanthropic and ethical concerns. 

 

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector and region.
