Chamber Recycles to Benefit Wounded Veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The United States Chamber of Commerce has joined the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes (CSAH) in a fundraiser to recycle used toner cartridges. The revenue generated from the sale of toner cartridges will be used to help relieve the pressing financial obligations of wounded war veterans and their families.

"More businesses than ever are recognizing the importance of contributing to their communities," said Chamber Vice President of Business Services Patricia Cole. "Using something as simple as a toner cartridge is a creative way to provide wounded veterans with money for rent, gasoline, health care, and groceries."

Reports show that when severely wounded veterans return home, their spouses often must quit work to become full-time caregivers, reducing family income by as much as 50%. Generally, 350 empty cartridges generate $1,000 for one month to make up for lost income.

The Coalition to Salute America's Heroes (www.saluteheroes.com) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) charity. It offers five programs represented by the five stars on its Hero Wrist Band design: Wounded Hero Emergency Financial Relief, Homes for Wounded Heroes, BHire a Hero, Family Support Network, and the Road to Recovery.

The U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business federation representing more than
3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
