Chamber Lauds Conclusion of U.S. Oman FTA Talks

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The United States Chamber of Commerce today applauded the successful conclusion of free trade negotiations between the United States and Oman and urged Congress to pass the agreement.

"The Chamber will work with its affiliated organization in Oman—the Muscat-American Business Council— to increase opportunities for U.S. exports of goods and services to one of America's allies in the region," said Chamber Director for Middle East and Africa Affairs Daeman Harris. "This is a critical agreement for companies in the financial services, agriculture, oil and gas, transportation, health care and telecommunications sectors."

The conclusion of FTA discussions reflects the significant steps that the Sultanate of Oman has made in market reforms, according to the Chamber. Both USTR Robert Portman and His

Excellency Maqbool Ali Sultan, the Omani Minister of Trade and Industry, should be congratulated. The Chamber also has called on Congress to move quickly to ratify the agreement.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world's largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region.
